Manifesto Promoting a New Confessional Organization December 2007
The undersigned, being totally committed to the Lutheran Confessions and the inerrant Word of God, do proclaim that the time is now for the forming of a new confessional organization, dedicated to teaching those truths and practices critical to Lutheran Orthodoxy and Walther era polity. Other confessional organizations will be asked to join with us in this worthy effort in a spirit of cooperation and faithfulness to the cause of Lutheran Orthodoxy.
We beseech you to give the forthcoming draft Constitution and Bylaws a fair and honest review and to reach initial agreement that such an effort is needed, timely, and yes, critical, to the survival of Lutheran Orthodoxy. Now is the time to consider that a teaching effort must start, totally independent of any confessional organization having a political agenda. This would not preclude liaison with a political group.
It is also the intention of the co-sponsors who have signed below, to advise of the intention to provide in the future a health-care plan for the organization’s employees and members so desiring to enroll. More details on how this will work will be provided at the first convention, planned during the meeting in March 2008. A vote on when and how this happen will have to be taken by the membership.
The prime questions to be asked are two only: 1. Can what is being proposed work for its intended purpose? 2. What can be modified to make it more effective?
Based on personal conversations and understandings, the co-sponsors have agreed to develop a draft constitution and bylaws to be presented at our first meeting during the time of the Symposia in January 2008. This will serve to further clarify and define the proposed organization and elect officers and a Board of Directors. Nominations may be made to any of the undersigned by January 5, 2008. Nominators and nominees must be members of an existing confessional organization or group. Nominations will be open for President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer (all laity) and an 8-member Board of Directors of ministers and laity, 4 positions each. An agenda for the meeting in January is being developed and will be released later in December, along with the location, etc.
Respectfully,
